Day 01: Arrive in TRIVANDRUM - Meet & Assist at Airport Transfer from the Airport to City & Hotel.
In the afternoon take a sight-seeing tour of Trivandrum City with a guide. Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala is a beautiful seaside city built on seven hills. The city gets its name from the word, Thiruvananthapuram, meaning the City of Anantha or the abode of the sacred Serpent Anantha on which Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu trinity reclines. The famous Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple is dedicated to Vishnu and marks the very heart of the city. Visit the Art Gallery, Natural History Museum, Napier Museum, the Sri Chithra Art Gallery etc
Day 02: Trivandrum to Munnar
Munnar, situated 6200 feet above sea level, a dream destination for every traveller. An invigorating journey takes you through the Green Valleys to the Top Station 34 Kms form the foot of the Munnar Hills. The route to the Top Station provides an awe inspiring melange of wild flora and fauna, with quite a few popular tourist attractions along the way. Acres of lush green grass lands and tea gardens stretch across these mountains as we proceed towards the Kundala Dam. Past the vast expenses of Neelakurinji (which only flower once in 12 years), fields, pine forest and orchids
Day 03: Continue Munnar sight seeing
Day 04: Check out Munnar, proceed to Thekkady
Lying close to the plantations, within the rich jungles of Periyar, in Thekkady is one of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife reserves - the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Spread across 777 sq.km, of which 360 sq.km is thick evergreen forest, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Noted for its diversity of wildlife and scenic beauty, the Reserve attracts visitors from all over the world.
Day 05: Thekkady / Periyar sight seeing
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Cardamom Hills, sits on the Kerala / Tamil Nadu border. Periyar was established in 1934 and is one of the largest reserves in India. It's one of the best sanctuaries in which to observe herds of Wild Elephants. The 21 mile long lake was artificial built by the British in 1985 for irrigation purposes. The scenery, shapes and colours often remind people of the Scottish Highlands. Viewing is best by boat at sunrise and sunset - there is also a rich variety of bird of life and other animals that may be seen including Bison, Wild Boar and Sambar
Day 06: Check out Thekkady, proceed to Aleppey & Check into House Boat
A morning check-out after breakfast to join the Rice Barge. House boats were originally built 40 years ago and are constructed from Anjili wood and coir. With a capacity of 35 tons they were used for transporting a variety of goods, but mainly rice. The rice barge is traditionally pushed through the water by two men using tall Bamboo poles they cover a distance of approximately 20 Kms a day. They are simply furnished and consist of a thatched covered Lounge cum Dining area, a Double Bedroom (with mosquito net) and a Bathroom with a WC and Wash basin. In the evening the boat is lit by hurricane lamps. Thatched awnings on both sides of the boat allow the breeze and views to flow through, there is a service area at the back where the cook prepares simple meals using as many of the fresh provisions as can be plucked, caught or bought on the back waters. A guide also travels with the boat to make life as informative and interesting as you wish. On arrival in Alleppey re-join your car and continue on to Kovalam
Day 07: Day to Relax on Kovalam Beach.
India's most spectacular beach resort, Kovalam is a sheltered natural bay. Enjoy the luxury of its sun and surf. A beach paradise, the boundless blue of the Arabian Sea and unwinding miles of fine sanded beaches washed by the surf which roars and hisses at the feet of swaying palms trees
Day 08: Check out from Kovalam and Safe Return
Transfer & Drop Off to TRIVANDRUM Airport for the return journey, & Farewell.
